PFSbrands, a 100% employee-owned company headquartered in Holts Summit, Missouri, proudly presented a $10,500 donation to the Super Sam Foundation, reinforcing its decade-long partnership and deep-rooted commitment to the fight against pediatric cancer. The contribution, raised through employee payroll deductions, will directly support children battling cancer, their families, and crucial advocacy efforts aimed at restoring federal legislation to accelerate pediatric cancer drug development.

Founded in memory of Sam Santhuff, the Super Sam Foundation is a national voice in the fight for more equitable pediatric cancer funding and research. The foundation currently has an urgent legislative mission centered around the reinstatement of the Give Kids a Chance Act (S.932)—a vital, budget-neutral bill that would:

  1. Require pharmaceutical companies to study pediatric applications of new adult cancer drugs.
  2. Reauthorize the pediatric priority review voucher, which helps speed the approval of lifesaving treatments for children.

Both measures are critical in a field where progress is often stifled by a lack of resources and urgency. Unfortunately, this legislation was cut from the federal budget in December, halting active projects and threatening access to future treatments.

“The Give Kids a Chance Act doesn’t cost taxpayers a dime, but its impact is massive. Without it, promising pediatric cancer research and drug development has stalled. We're heading back to Washington, D.C. to advocate for this once again. Support from companies like PFSbrands helps make that possible,” said Cassie Santhuff, Co-Founder and President of the Super Sam Foundation. “This $10,500 donation represents more than just financial support—it’s employee-owners giving part of themselves, their time, and their resources. Their commitment goes far beyond the dollars. They volunteer. They advocate. They are truly part of this fight with us.”

For PFSbrands, the support of Super Sam Foundation aligns closely with its employee ownership model and core values.

Shawn Burcham, Founder & CEO of PFSbrands, shared: “We’ve been supporting the Super Sam Foundation for almost 10 years. It’s one of two organizations our employee-owners rally behind every year. Giving our team the opportunity to donate weekly from their paychecks is powerful. Our purpose as a company is to help people be more successful in work and in life—and if we can bring any comfort or resources to kids and families facing pediatric cancer, we’re honored to do so. Supporting this local foundation is the right thing to do—and it’s personal for many of us here in Callaway County.”

PFSbrands’ support helps the foundation provide local family assistance, fund research partnerships, and advocate for change on the national stage. The $10,500 contribution is a testament to what’s possible when employee ownership and community-minded leadership come together.
